Neon Fusion: When Bright Colour Meets Black

Some designs begin with a destination or a landscape. Neon Fusion began with colour.

For this one-of-a-kind spiral hoodie, I wanted to see what would happen when bold, energetic shades were broken up by deep black sections. The colour combination came together naturally: turquoise, pink, yellow and lime green, with black adding contrast and giving the brighter colours room to stand out.

Building the colour combination

The hoodie was tightly spiralled before the colours were applied in separate sections. Turquoise and pink bring the cooler, electric tones, while yellow and lime green add sharp bursts of brightness.

Black was placed between parts of the design to create darker areas and prevent the hoodie from becoming one continuous rainbow. As the ice melted, the dyes moved through the fabric and created unexpected blends, streaks and softer transitions.

A different result from every angle

The front has a dramatic spiral effect, with bright colour appearing through the darker sections. Around the hood, sleeves and back, the pattern becomes more abstract as the dyes travel through the folds.

That unpredictability is one of my favourite parts of ice dyeing. You can choose the colours and control the basic layout, but the final details are created during the melting process. No second hoodie could develop exactly the same markings.

Made as a true one-off

Neon Fusion was created by hand in Sydney and is available as a single size Large hoodie. Once it has sold, this exact pattern and colour placement will not be reproduced.

It is bold, colourful and completely individual—made for someone who wants clothing that does not look mass-produced.
