Northern Lights
Northern Lights is a one-of-a-kind men’s XL hand-dyed ice dye T-shirt, individually created in Sydney, Australia using professional fibre-reactive dyes.
The design features a deep central burst of plum, violet and magenta, with cool teal and aqua tones flowing through the lower half of the garment to create a vivid aurora-inspired effect.
Inspired by the Aurora
Northern Lights takes inspiration from the glowing movement of the aurora across a dark night sky.
To create the design, the centre of the shirt was formed into a tight spiral over the crown of a colander, while the remaining fabric was allowed to drape naturally down around the sides.
As the ice melted, gravity carried the dye through the hanging folds. This created a concentrated circular burst around the upper centre of the shirt before stretching into long flowing colour trails through the lower half of the garment.
The combination of plum, violet, magenta, teal and aqua gives the design a cool, luminous look reminiscent of shifting northern skies.
Because the ice, gravity and individual dye pigments move differently through the fabric every time, this exact pattern cannot be reproduced.

Every Dye My World garment is individually folded, dyed and finished by hand. The natural movement of melting ice through the fabric creates unique colour separation, transitions and pattern development that cannot be exactly duplicated.
The colander technique used for Northern Lights gives the shirt two distinct forms of movement — a concentrated spiral around the centre followed by elongated colour trails created as the fabric draped below.
Once Northern Lights is sold, this exact design cannot be replaced.

- Cool iron inside out if required
