Inspired by fire, smoke and molten colour, Fire & Ash is a one-of-a-kind hand-dyed 2XL T-shirt created in Sydney, Australia using Dye My World's signature loose spiral ice-dye technique.

Rather than creating a traditional symmetrical spiral, melting ice carries the dyes naturally through the folds of the fabric, producing flowing ribbons of colour that radiate from the centre of the garment. Every movement of the dye is guided by gravity, melting ice and the unique folds of the fabric, making each piece completely impossible to reproduce.

Rich reds and fiery oranges blend into smoky charcoal tones as the black dye naturally separates during the ice-dye process, creating depth, movement and texture throughout the design.

Understanding the Ice Dye Process

One of the most fascinating parts of ice dyeing is watching the colours develop.

During the batching process and immediately after the garment is first unfolded, the dyes often appear much darker and more intense because the fabric is still wet and contains excess unreacted dye.

After rinsing, washing and drying, those excess dyes are removed, revealing the permanent colours that have chemically bonded to the cotton fibres. This final result is the true finished artwork and the appearance shown in the product photographs.
